Rex Trevett Appeal Fund
The Rex Trevett Appeal Fund was started by his family after Rex’s death in 2005 in order to sponsor young musicians in the West Dorset Area.
Rex’s love of music led him, at the age of 40, to train as a music teacher and concentrate on music full time. Over the next 25 years his whole life revolved around music, both in school, at home and in the community. Playing, arranging and composing for school orchestras, bands and groups, playing and conducting St Swithun’s Band in Bridport, singing with and conducting the Elizabethan Singers and starting up the Bridport Big Band comprising ex-pupils, friends and colleagues. He also taught many pupils privately. The Colfox School Big Band became very successful and together with the School Orchestra performed regularly to raise money for charity. He became totally immersed in his music and the encouragement of young people, helping them to discover their own love of music and musical talents as well as building their confidence in music performances and their everyday lives.
