Legendary singer songwriter Billy Bragg has been working with composer John K Miles, B Sharp trainees, St Michael’s year 5, Woodroffe GCSE music group and the B Sharp core group, to inspire and develop lyrical starting points for Hear Here and the Coastal Voices commission.

Hear Here is divided into four parts:

  • Song writing & instrumental composition with John K Miles.  (July-Oct. Performance October 20th.)
  • Sonic art, recording & tec with Glyn Bush & Ralph Cree (Nov -May)
  • Visual art – VJ ing with Dizzi (Nov-May)
  • Singing & songwriting with Sammy Hurden (first session Tues 15th Nov 6.30 – 8.45)
  • Combined Performance of all Hear Here parts – May 6th 2012 TBC.

Each part will be structured around a series of workshops culminating in performance and installation. The finished compositions will function as stand-alone pieces, whilst connecting with each part of Hear Here and the wider Coastal Voices. All works will be available for further commissioning.

Thank you to all that took part and made this project special.

As parents of one of the drummers we went to see Coastal Voices at the Hear Here concert and thought it both beautiful and fascinating. Billy Bragg, John Miles and the teenagers were amazing.
