B Sharp Singing 2016 – a high quality, large scale, collaborative programme of singing to engage, progress and inspire
11 November 2016 – The Lighthouse Poole
ONE – a shared humanity
A mass choir of young singers from schools across Dorset and Devon will perform a powerful and thought-provoking performance of original music by composer John K Miles on Friday 11th November at Lighthouse, Poole Centre for the Arts.
Written as part of a creative participatory programme of work and performed alongside world-class musicians, soloists and B Sharp’s emerging leaders, participants will explore the theme of one –a shared humanity.
The work includes newly composed material woven together with re-imaginings of work dating back to 2012, to paint a picture of some of the things that bind us together as human beings.
The piece seeks to engage young people in singing that is both enjoyable and challenging and to cultivate a sense of connection and ownership for all participants who are keen to take part.
John, known for his work in Coastal Voices in 2012, will use ideas and material generated by the young singers as they consider what it means to be part of a greater whole, an element of the universe, how they perceive themselves within it and how they come together to form part of a collective. To become one.
We delighted to have young singers the following schools taking part:
Mrs Ethelston’s Primary, Lyme Regis
St Mary’s Primary School, Bridport
St Michael’s Primary School, Lyme Regis
St Peter’s Comprehensive, Bournemouth
Winton & Glenmoor, Bournemouth
The Woodroffe School, Lyme Regis
