Lyme Youth Arts
Lyme Youth Arts
Lyme Youth Arts are a voluntary group of people who formed a committee in March 2007. 60% of its membership is made up of young people. The committee came about at young peoples request to provide creative opportunities and improve community relations between the generations following a long spate of bad press.
Meetings are held approximately four times a year plus an AGM (Annual General Meeting) where people are welcome. We welcome new faces and ideas so please come along or contact us if interested in being involved.
Lyme Youth Arts Committee Members
Chairman
Ayvin Rogers has a long history of community involvement, with a focus on developing arts opportunities within Lyme Regis. He has chaired various committees and organisations since the mid ’90s, including the Town Council’s Marine Theatre management committee, The local Regatta & Carnival, the local Club for Young People and led 2 large scale multi-partnership Millennium celebration projects.
As a lover of music, occasional DJ and supporter of young people, Ayvin has ended up chairing this merry band of merry makers. Heaven help them!
Ayvin says, ” This is one of the most satisfying projects I have been involved with. Under the leadership of Fran, the team makes things happen and makes my job easy. Together, we plan and cost things out, find the money and then deliver. However, the project has its own life and evolves organically. As time goes on, we find new partners and unexpected strengths which can be developed. We see a great future and are optimistically seeking new funding to carry on working with young people for young people.”
